Exclusive, one full week of training on taxonomy, identification and ecology of algae. Each day will consist of lectures on various topics including methodology, algal divisions, recent changes to taxonomy, HABS, and differences in approaches to taxonomic classification. There will be microscope sessions in which participants will view preserved and live specimens while receiving hands‐on training in identification. Participants are encouraged to bring their own samples as well. No direct experience with algae required, but workshop targets participants with backgrounds in biology and scientific methods.
