The PhycoTech Sedgwick-Rafter Counting Cell is a standard counting cell designed for counting larger plankton on a compound microscope (up to 200x) or on an inverted microscope (higher magnifications possible).
Includes: two cover glasses, one Sedgwich-Rafter Cell, and one plastic snap-lock case.
Add these glass coverslips for easy replacement of lost or broken coverslips. This size works best with the Sedwick Rafter Cell we offer, but can be used for any purpose that this rectangular cover clip will fit. Suggested use with the Sedgwick Rafter Cell (P-0042).

The PhycoTech Sedgwick-Rafter Counting Cell with grid is an improvement on the original design using a non-corrodible ceramic rectangular frame and etched grid. The Sedgwick-Rafter Counting Cell is a standard counting cell designed for counting larger plankton on a compound microscope (up to 200x) or on an inverted microscope (higher magnifications possible).
Includes: two cover glasses, Sedgwick-Rafter Cell with Grid, and plastic snap-lock case.
The PhycoTech Nannoplankton Counting Chamber is redesigned after the Palmer-Maloney counting chamber and is used to hold a known volume of sample for quantitative counting of cells with a microscope. The PhycoTech nannoplankton counting chamber has several advantages over other cells and hemocytometer:
1) It is thinner, which allows examination and counting of microalgae at higher magnification,
2) larger cells will not be crushed by the weight of the coverslip, as this chamber uses a #1, 22 mm2 coverslip,
3) it is less expensive and easier to use,
4) it is individually calibrated. It is suitable for counting organisms up to approximately 300 µm in length. It can be used up to 600x using a high, dry objective.
Includes: one individually calibrated Nannoplankton Counting Chamber, two #1 22mm2 coverslips
Our Image library currently includes over over 5,000 images representing 12 freshwater divisions and classes (2,000 new images released in 2017 update). The set includes multiple microscopic enhancements including bright field, phase, Nomarski and epifluorescent shots. We updated many algal name changes as published on Algaebase.org.

Pre-polymerized HPMA mounting resin - 100mL. This HPMA mounting medium will make approximately 450 slides.
Naphrax is a synthetic resin. Because of its surface contact with the diatom frustules, its resolution qualities are equivalent to that of a mountant with a refractive index of 1.74 at the least.
Naphrax will need Toluene added to use. We offer both, Naphrax Export (no Toluene added) and Naphrax with Toluene ready to use (this may have shipping restrictions)
This item contains one15 ml bottle of Naphrax - no Toluene
Phycotech, Inc is the Exclusive North American Distributor
This item contains one 200 ml bottle of Naphrax - no Toluene
This Naphrax has Toluene added for ready to use resin upon arrival. We offer both, Naphrax Export (no Toluene added) and Naphrax with Toluene ready to use (this may have shipping restrictions)
This item contains one 200 ml bottle of Naphrax -with Toluene
The PhycoTech, Inc Harmful Algal Bloom Kit is perfect for home owner associations, lake owners, farmers, businesses with ponds and more. This HAB detecting kit will come with complete and easy to follow directions, and does not require the customer to be a business. Samples are run through Phebe, our Imaging FlowCytobot (IFCB, McLane Research Labs) which captures images of particles as they pass through a flow-cell. Blue-Green Algae, HABs, if detected can then be identified using an automated classifier and reviewed by Trained Staff. This will tell you the presents or absence of potentially toxic algae. PhycoTech will then report the levels and findings of any potential HABs to you, with in 24 hrs (business) of the kit arriving.
What is needed to collect and send us a sample? Simply this kit! It will include a pair of gloves, a sample bottle, a label to apply to the bottles, the analysis request form, Freezer packs, which you will freeze prior to sampling and a cooler. Simply take your sample and send it to us the same day! You will then get the kit to a local FedEx shipper using the provided return label. The fresh, live sample will arrive to us by 1030am to our St. Joseph labs where we will begin processing it.
IFCB data is semi-quantitative and PhycoTech is able to report HAB only results with this kit. Additional testing can be made, including full assemblage, but must be indicated at the time that you would like 2 types of results. Additional fees will apply per our standard rates.
